EV Realty builds private charging hubs for commercial fleets — what the company calls Powered Properties. For electric semi trucks, the important site on the record in 2026 is the flagship hub in San Bernardino, California.
This is not a public truck stop anyone can roll into off I-10. Access is under a customer agreement. That is why EV LoadBoard marks those kinds of plazas as Private MCS (yellow) until a host approves your company.
San Bernardino hub — what opened
EV Realty opened the San Bernardino hub in April 2026. Independent trade coverage (Electrek, FreightWaves, CALSTART, EV Realty’s own release) agrees on the core specs:
- 76 high-power charging ports
- About 9 MW of site capacity
- Designed to serve 200+ medium- and heavy-duty trucks per day
- Hardware from Kempower
- CCS up to about 500 kW
- MCS up to about 1.2 MW
- Mix of bobtail pull-in and pull-through lanes that can keep a trailer attached
- 24/7 operations, staff, security, lighting, restrooms, parking
- Software (reported as Synop) for reservations, power management, and fleet reporting
Construction used available Southern California Edison capacity. Public funding support cited by the company and trade press includes the South Coast AQMD Carl Moyer program and the California Energy Commission EnergIIZE project.
Why the location matters for Electric Semi freight
The lot sits in the Inland Empire freight machine:
- Near the San Bernardino Intermodal Facility
- Near I-10 and I-215
- On the landside path from the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach
- In a region with a very large registered medium- and heavy-duty truck population and tens of millions of square feet of industrial warehouse space
That is regional and drayage-plus-linehaul work, not a theoretical coast-to-coast map pin.
Powered Properties — shared private infrastructure
EV Realty’s model is multi-fleet on shared private infrastructure. One host builds the megawatts; several carriers contract for stalls or kWh instead of each fleet building its own 9 MW depot.
Announced customers at San Bernardino have included J.B. Hunt Transport, Gate City Beverage (Harbor Distributing / Reyes Holdings), and all-electric carrier Nevoya. Other fleets are considered separately — approval at this plaza does not transfer to another operator.
MCS vs CCS at this site
- CCS is what most current battery trucks still use. 500 kW is high for CCS, still slower than a diesel island for a 500-mile class-8 pack.
- MCS at up to 1.2 MW is the connector class meant to put meaningful range back on a class-8 electric truck inside a driver break.
If your tractor only has CCS, you are not automatically an MCS customer. If you need MCS, use Private Charging Access so the desk can match you with a host.
How it shows up on EV LoadBoard
On the EV Semi charging map:
- Green — public/active plazas you can plan a live load around
- Yellow — Private MCS, including EV Realty-style sites, after the desk and host say yes
- Red — coming soon
Yellow is never a walk-up. evloadboard.com will not pretend it is.
